| Taoyuan County's strong support of high-tech science parks can be seen in the development of the Datan Coastal Designated Industrial Park, the Guantang Industrial Park, the Taoyuan Technology Industrial Park, the Hwaya Industrial Park, the Longtan Aspire Park, the Longtan Campus of the Hsinchu Scienced-based Industrial and the Environmental Science and Technology Park. This has drawn Nanya's chip fabs, Quanta's LCD plant, CPT's LCD plant and AUO to the County, generating investments worth over 1 Trillion NTD. CPT is one of the world's top ten LCD panel and picture tube makers. All of its production facilities in Taiwan are located in Taoyuan County. |

Topping the Industrial Development Ratings for Six Years Running
| Taoyuan has a well-developed manufacturing industry based around the primary industries, conventional industries, the high-tech industry and the opto-electronics industry. By the end of 2007 there were 10,486 factories registered in the County. These factories' outstanding performance meant that Taoyuan County was rated number one in Taiwan for six years running for both factory income and value of factory investments in fixed assets. |

Taoyuan's semiconductor IC industry offers a full range of products and services including design, manufacture, packaging and testing. The most representative semiconductor companies include ASE, the world's largest packaging services provider. Other well-known manufacturers include Nanya, Phoenix Precision, Unimicron, Kinsus, Compeq, Subtron and DayShine. Together they have combined output worth over 300 Billion NTD a year. |

Taoyuan is not only home to 1495 logistics businesses, the most of any region in Taiwan, but also the largest and most complete logistics services as well. These include manufacturers' logistics centers such as Uni-President RSI and Taiwan Service Merchandise Co.; retailers' logistics centers such as Eslite Logistics; importers' logistics center such as Amway; specialist logistic centers such as Tjoin; and couriers' logistics centers such as UPS and FedEx. Taoyuan led the way in establishing the first New Immigrant Learning Center in Taiwan to provide foreign spouses with diversity education as well as basic jobs and parenting skills. ¡´Development on the Hwaya Technology Park almost came to a halt because height restrictions and water supply problems couldn't be resolved.
¡´The Taoyuan County Government took the initiative and helped businesses through:

¡½Lifting of height restrictions so high-tech equipment can be installed ¡½Solving the problem of inadequate water supplies
¡´The Hwaya Technology Park is now fully occupied by business tenants and generated over 670 Billion NTD in 2007. This was around half of the Hsinchu Science Park. | ¡¿The world's largest smartphone manufacturer: HTC |
¡´ƒÜ HTC has well-developed product design, manufacturing, marketing and after-sales support capabilities. It is a leading supplier of wireless handheld devices with revenues of over 100 Billion NTD a year.
¡´ƒÜ In the face of stiff international competition, HTC began planning for new global operations and R&D headquarters. The expansion of the HTC plant however ran into difficulties because it was located on the county boundary and extended out of the industrial zone.
¡´ƒÜ The Taoyuan County Government organized a joint review in collaboration with the Taipei County. This helped HTC successfully apply for the sewage hookup and building permission required for its global strategy.

¡¿A role model in the transformation of traditional industries: Yamaiji Umbrella
¡´Seven out of every ten premium umbrellas in the world are Yamaiji products. 200 new styles are developed every year, providing clear proof that traditional contract manufacturers can still produce the world's top boutique products.
¡´Taoyuan County Government's efforts in marketing the top local brands and evergreen enterprises drew the attention of the international media. The exposure helped transform Yamaiji from a supplier to the Asian markets to the supplier for leading international fashion brands. |

¡¿Leader of the international semiconductor equipment manufacturer: ASML Taiwan
¡´Dutch-based ASML is the world's leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry. By 2007 ASML products had acquired a 65% market share and its clients include the top chip makers around the world.
¡´Despite intense Korean competition, ASML ultimately decided on Taoyuan. The comprehensive support offered by the Taoyuan County Government was instrumental in ASML's decision, including assistance with plant site acquisition and taking just 1 week to issue the building permits.
¡´ASML's decision to establish a presence in Taoyuan encouraged the integration and formation of industry clusters, making Taoyuan a key manufacturing center in the global semiconductor wafer industry. |
